AI-Powered Roof Detection, Advanced Modeling, and Smarter Material Management
July's product updates bring more speed, accuracy, and flexibility to your project workflows, from AI-powered roof detection and advanced roof modeling to sun path video export, cleaner Bill of Materials management, and custom material definitions.
Sun Path Video Export & Download
Sun path simulations can now be recorded and downloaded as video. Set the start and end time, adjust the video length, resolution, and quality, and choose whether the date appears in the recording. This makes it easier to share solar movement and shading analysis in proposals, presentations, and client meetings.
Splitting Roof Facades
Selected roof faces can now be separated from the main roof and positioned at a different elevation. This makes it easier to model stepped and multi-level roof structures accurately in your 3D project design, without redrawing the entire roof.
AI-Powered Roof Detection & LiDAR
Roof structures can now be detected automatically using AI and available LiDAR data via Google Maps HD. solarVis identifies roof boundaries, faces, slopes, and height information to generate an accurate initial 3D model, reducing manual drawing and speeding up the design process. (Availability of this feature depends on Google Solar API coverage.)
Parapet & Obstacle Setback
Parapet walls can now be added directly to roof models. Apply them around the full roof perimeter or only on selected edges, then set the wall height and thickness. This helps you model real roof boundaries more accurately in your 3D project design. In addition to the existing roof-edge setback settings, you can now define setback distances for rooftop obstacles too, so you control the clearance between solar panels and obstructions during panel placement.
Bill of Materials Category Structure
Materials in the Bill of Materials can now be organized under their relevant system categories, and each item is automatically added to its assigned section. System-specific materials, such as battery-related components, only appear when the corresponding system exists in the project. This keeps the material list cleaner, more relevant to the project, and easier to manage.
My Items
You can now create and manage company-specific materials directly in solarVis. Add your own product details, pricing, images, and datasheets, then use these materials across bills of materials, quotations, presets, packages, add-ons, and cost calculations.
